A softgel passes through several stages before it is ready to inspect and pack: it is formed on the encapsulation machine, carried along the line, and dried until the shell begins to firm. Seeing those stages in sequence says more about a supplier than a single product photo — it shows the equipment, the handling, and the conditions a batch actually goes through.
This clip is a short look inside the plant-based softgel production line at AMYLOM: freshly formed softgels moving along the line, then tumble-drying in a rotary drum.
Along the line
After encapsulation, the softgels are carried away from the machine on a conveyor. At this point the shell is still soft, so the capsules are handled gently and kept moving so they do not stick to each other or to the belt. Gentle, continuous handling here helps keep the batch uniform.
Tumble drying
The softgels then go into a rotary drum, where they tumble gently so air reaches every surface and they dry uniformly without sticking together. This is the first drying stage, where the shell starts to firm up and surface-dry before the longer drying that follows. For a plant-based shell, the drying conditions are set for hydroxypropyl starch rather than borrowed from a gelatin process — the starch film has its own moisture and setting behavior.
