A client in Taiwan asked for a krill oil softgel — a 500 mg fill in a plant-based shell. This clip is the sample run, filmed on the encapsulation line from the injection wedge to the drying trays.

Dosing the 500 mg krill oil fill

The fill is dosed at the injection wedge: metering pumps push the krill oil between the twin die rolls at the moment the shell is formed and sealed, dosed to the client’s 500 mg fill spec. The shell is AMYLOM’s gelatin-free hydroxypropyl starch formula — plant-based here refers to the shell, since krill oil itself is a marine ingredient. The pairing matters because marine oils are a mainstay of the softgel category, and brands replacing gelatin still need their krill and fish oil formats to run.

Off the chute and onto the trays

From the die rolls the freshly sealed capsules ride the discharge chute and collect on drying trays — deep red and translucent. A sample run like this is what turns a spec sheet into evidence: the client sees its own formulation, in its own capsule, coming off a production line rather than a lab bench.
